On a Thursday morning in October 1929, the stock market crashed and the Great Depression arrived. Times were tough and many banks went bust. Our doors stayed open.
Wood County emerged from the Depression in the mid 1930’s when oil and gas were discovered. The bank was there, making loans and opening accounts for the families that followed black gold into these parts. Our deep commitment to Wood County’s economic growth started then—and continues to this day.
