December 28, 2006—BankTexas
unveiled today a major update to eBank. In
addition to cosmetic enrichments, the new version
provides new security layers designed to protect
customers from online identity theft.
Kay Newland, Vice
President of Information/Technology, said, “At
BankTexas, we strive to provide customers with
innovative products and services that make managing
money easier and more convenient.”
In addition to cosmetic
enrichments, the updated eBank introduces new
security layers designed to protect you from online
identity theft. These security enhancements --
which draw on the very latest technology -- will
assist us at BankTexas in our continued efforts to
think ahead of identity thieves. Furthermore, they
will allow you to rest even easier about banking
online.
If you currently use
eBank, please review the following
instructions for logging in on your
first visit
and all future visits.
Should you have any
questions or wish to enroll, please feel free to
learn more about
eBank
»
When you log into
the enhanced eBank for the first time:
1. First, enter
your current username.
2. In the
following screen, enter your current password into
the “passphrase” box.
3. After eBank
verifies your passphrase, you will be asked to write
a personal security phrase. This is a word or set
of words that you can easily remember. In
subsequent visits to eBank, this phrase will
be displayed above the passphrase box, letting you
know that the website is authentic.
4. After you
choose a personal security phrase, you will input
answers to five security questions such as, “What is
your mother’s maiden name?” (You also have the
option to make up your own questions.) Your answers
to these questions are sensitive to case and
punctuation. These questions and answers will be
used to verify your identity in future visits to
eBank.
When you log into
the enhanced eBank in the future:
1. First, enter your
current username.
2. In the following
screen, you will be asked for your social security
number as well as the answers to two of your
security questions.
3. Next, you will have
the option to let eBank remember the computer
you are using. This will allow you to bypass
answering your security questions when you login
using the same computer.
4. In the final login
screen, verify that the personal security phrase
displayed above the passphrase box is identical to
the one you entered. If so, enter your current
password/passphrase and log into eBank.
