Bill M. Weems—longtime Senior Vice President of BankTexas—retired in December 2004 after a storied

  career of over 40 years.

Mr. Weems was born and raised on a farm near Quitman.  At 24, he went to work as a cattle inspector in

Lubbock, Texas.  Shortly thereafter, he found himself managing the office of a credit association in Morton,

Texas.  He returned to Quitman in 1976, wanting to bring up his children in the environment and schools

  of his youth.

Mr. Weems became a loan officer at the bank, where he relied on his first-hand knowledge of the

agricultural industry to develop a devoted following of customers.  Despite the many changes in the

banking industry he saw over the years, Mr. Weems never sacrificed the relationships he shared with

his customers, which he calls the key to his success.

In retirement, Mr. Weems spends his time hunting, fishing, and working on his Quitman farm.  He is a

  devoted, lifelong cattleman.

Mr. Weems continues his association with BankTexas as Senior Vice President Emeritus, working

  primarily in new business development.
