Clay Thompson joined BankTexas in 2011 in his current capacity as Executive Vice President he originates commerical loans for the Tyler market. Clay comes from Prosperity Bank where he served as Regional President managing four banking centers in Tyler, Jacksonville and Rusk. Prior to his work with Prosperity Bank, Clay worked with Austin Bank as Senior Vice President in commercial lending, as well as spent time with Chase Bank in both Tyler and Dallas. In between duties with Chase, Clay worked as a Director in Municipal Finance with Koch Industries in Wichita, Kansas and as a Senior Financial Analyst with CNH Capital Financial Services in Racine, Wisconsin. Clay's formal bank credit training was with NBC Bank in San Antonio.
Clay is very active in civic affairs in Tyler and Smith County where he currently serves as Treasurer and board member for the United Way of Smith County and presently serves on the Bullard City Council. In the past, Clay has served as President for both United Way and the Bullard Economic Development Corporation. Previous board positions have been with the Tyler YMCA, Tyler Economic Development Council and the Tyler Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In addition, Clay was a former United Way Loaned Executive of the year for 2002-2003.
Clay is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas Tech University with a B.B.A. in Finance, and Indiana University with an M.B.A. in Finance. He is in his last year at the Southwestern Graduate School of Business (SWGSB) at SMU and one of only six members of his class to receive scholarship honors in his Junior year. He and his wife, Stacey, live in Bullard where Stacey has been active on the Bullard City Council for the past six years and was the former Mayor Pro-Tem. They have three daughters, Kennedy, Landry and Morgan.
